Bodycam system requirements

Bodycam system requirements

Windows 10/11 64-bit only. Numbers below are already on this page, restated from the Bodycam Steam store (app 2406770). No extra specs added.

  • CPU — min i7-9700K / Ryzen 7 3700X · rec i7-10700K / Ryzen 7 3800X.
  • RAM — min 8 GB · rec 16 GB.
  • GPU — min RTX 2070 (8 GB) / RX 5700 (8 GB) · rec RTX 3060 (12 GB) / RX 6600 XT (8 GB).
  • Storage & OS — 50 GB (SSD recommended), broadband, Windows 10/11 64-bit. No macOS or Linux listed.

Figures below are restated from the Bodycam Steam store page (app 2406770, checked Sep 27, 2026). Minimum is a launch floor, not a promise of smooth competitive frame rates — Bodycam is an Unreal Engine 5 Early Access game and builds keep changing.

  • Between minimum and recommended? Start on a low preset and raise one setting at a time after install.
  • Steam's listed CPUs and GPUs are desktop parts — a laptop chip with a similar name is usually a lower power class.
  • Bodycam is online multiplayer: broadband is a listed requirement, so network problems can look like performance problems.

How to read Steam minimum vs recommended

Treat Steam minimum requirements as the floor for launching Bodycam on a supported Windows 10/11 64-bit PC — not a promise of smooth multiplayer, high settings, or competitive frame rates. Meeting the minimum can still mean low FPS, hitching, or settings you have to dial down.

Recommended specs raise CPU, RAM, and GPU class for a more comfortable Early Access experience on desktop-class hardware. They are still not a warranty of a specific FPS at a specific resolution; builds, maps, and features can shift what “comfortable” feels like.

SSD, storage, and broadband

Steam lists 50 GB available storage and marks SSD Recommended in the additional notes. An SSD typically reduces stutter from asset streaming compared with a hard disk, which matters more for Bodycam's photoreal Unreal Engine 5 maps than the raw install size.

Steam also lists a broadband Internet connection under both tiers. Weak or unstable connections show up as wait states, disconnects, or host-migration pain even when the GPU is fine.

Upscalers and frame generation

The Steam store requirements do not list upscaler or frame-generation support, so which options you get (and how well they work) depends on your client build and GPU vendor — check the in-game graphics settings.

Methodology only (no invented FPS tables): reach a stable base frame rate at a preset you can aim with before enabling frame generation. Frame gen smooths presentation; it does not replace adequate base FPS or fix CPU and network bottlenecks.

Bodycam system requirements vs Xbox console specs

BODYCAM 2026 shipped on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on January 7, 2026, which changes how to read these system requirements. Console players do not pick specs at all — the Xbox build ships with fixed presets tuned per console generation, so an Xbox Series X|S runs its own target frame rate without a settings rabbit hole. The Steam numbers on this page are the PC (Windows) side of the family only.

A useful cross-reference: the Xbox Series X GPU sits in the same performance band as the PC recommended card class (RTX 3060 / RX 6600 XT tier), and the Xbox One build targets settings close to the PC minimum column. If your Windows desktop is near the minimum list and you also own a current-gen console, the console build is the lower-effort way to play; if your PC clears the recommended column, Steam remains the highest-fidelity option with upscaler and frame-generation controls the console build does not expose.

Cross-buy and cross-progression between Steam and Xbox have not been announced — assume separate purchases and separate progression until the official feeds say otherwise.

8 GB cards, VRAM ceilings, and what to lower first

Both minimum GPUs (RTX 2070, RX 5700) and the RX 6600 XT recommendation are 8 GB cards, while the RTX 3060 recommendation uses its 12 GB variant. UE5 titles allocate textures aggressively, so on an 8 GB card the first settings to lower are texture quality and shadow distance — dropping these two frees the most VRAM for the smallest visual cost, and they should be your first stop before touching resolution.

Resolution scaling is the second lever: use the in-game upscaler option covered above (DLSS/FSR) at Quality mode before lowering native resolution, and only then step output resolution down. Frame generation is a last resort on minimum-spec machines because it adds latency to a shooter where reaction time matters. Laptop players: a mobile GPU with a similar name to the desktop minimum generally lands one tier below its desktop counterpart — compare against the minimum column conservatively.

Finally, keep the 50 GB install on an SSD. UE5 streaming means HDD installs produce stutter that no GPU setting can fix, and if you are near the storage floor, moving the game to a spare SSD is the single cheapest performance upgrade available for Bodycam.

FAQ: laptop vs desktop, VRAM, troubleshooting

Laptop vs desktop — an “RTX 3060 laptop” GPU is not automatically Steam's desktop recommended tier (lower power limits, different cooling, sometimes different VRAM). Plug in, use the discrete GPU, and watch thermals. This wiki does not certify laptop or handheld SKUs.

VRAM — Steam pairs 8 GB cards with minimum and an RTX 3060 12 GB / RX 6600 XT 8 GB with recommended. If you are VRAM-limited, lower texture quality and resolution first; frame generation alone does not solve VRAM pressure.

Troubleshooting order — (1) confirm Windows 10/11 64-bit and compare to the table above; (2) install on an SSD with free headroom; (3) start low and raise one setting at a time; (4) update GPU drivers and close overlays/recorders; (5) separate GPU limits from network/session issues. Account and client problems go through Steam and Reissad's official channels.

“Can I run Bodycam?” — a 30-second check

Can I run Bodycam? Compare three things against the table above and you have your answer in half a minute: (1) a desktop CPU at or above the Ryzen 7 3700X / i7-9700K line, (2) 8 GB of RAM minimum (16 GB to be comfortable), and (3) an 8 GB+ GPU around the RTX 2070 / RX 5700 level, ideally the RTX 3060 12 GB tier. Pass all three on a Windows 10/11 64-bit machine with 50 GB of SSD space and broadband, and the game will install and run.

What Bodycam requirements do not include: a macOS or Linux build, any console besides Xbox (see the console page), or a “lite” mode that drops the floor lower than Steam's minimum column. If you are below minimum on any one axis, the honest answer to “can my PC run Bodycam” is: not reliably — and no settings menu fixes a missing hardware tier.

Specs fine? What to do next

Once the game runs, the fastest way to feel comfortable is a simple loadout you can control: sketch five slots in the loadout builder, test one change in the Shooting Range HUB, then queue Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch before Wingman. The loadouts guide explains the process, and the beginner guide covers the first sessions.
